Loma Bonita 2 Fish Taco combo (rice & beans)

Date: 10/21/04

Location: Loma Bonita Mexican Food

Menu Item: 2 Fish Taco Plate

Rating:

Cost: $3.95

Comments: Pretty Good, very filling plate. However, not quite the zing or flavor present in the Rubio's pesky combo (the gold standard for fish tacos). The fish is breaded but not to greasy, done just right. Some more of the white sauce and lime flavor and this one would be spot-on. I give it 3 mex flags based on the meal's value and lower fat content rather than flavor. Next time I will probably split a 'super' burrito with a friend, which appears to be the Loma Bonita house specialty. As a nice touch, I notice the receipt says 'AQUI' in place of 'DINE IN'... I will look for this authentic indicator in my further reviews.

Adalberto's Pollo Asado Burrito

Date: 10/20/04

Location: Adalberto's

Menu Item: Pollo Asado Burrito

Rating:

Cost: $3.40

Comments: Good Pollo Asado. I'd say it's about a 3/4 pound altogether, most of which is the chicken. Spicy, but not too hot, and not too greasy either. Comes with onions, chopped tomatoes, and a pico de gallo. Guacamole and cheese extra. A lot of mex food places only put the quality pollo asado on the upscale 'plate' menus, but Adalberto's includes this on on the burrito menu. 4 flags for taste and value.
